Dragons have hit a pivotal point of the season. They were the surprise package early on, though now look to be struggling against the lower teams on the ladder. A Change.Org petition was circulated earlier in the week begging the Dragons coach to drop halfback Josh McCrone. Coach McGregor appears to have listened, bringing Kurt Mann into the halfback spot. We are finding this match hard to pick, though with an unfamiliar player at halfback for the Dragons and the Titans at home, will lean towards the Titans.
Benji Marshall is back! He’s stepping blokes, he’s setting up tries, he’s scoring tries. He’s even helping Ben Hunt to look like a decent halfback. This clash should be about the best of the round and could very well go either way. Brisbane have the home advantage; though are without Darius Boyd and possibly Corey Oates. This surely swings the match in Storms’ favour.

The Sharks appear to be struggling with their run of come-back wins coming to a sudden halt against a dominant Manly team. Sharks lost their rookie hooker in that clash and are going to have to dramatically turn things around to compete with a 2nd place Roosters. Boyd Cordner is out for the chooks, though should still be too good for a struggling Sharks side.
Tip: Roosters -2.5 @1.91 - Sportsbet
DCE is playing for a possible QLD call up, while the Warriors are without Isaac Luke and should have Kieran Foran returning. Manly have taken this home game to Perth, leaving the Warriors with 7+ hours of travel time. Manly should be too good on this occasion.
Its lunch time on Friday and currently 26 degrees and sunny in Townsville. Saturday night, come kick-off, it will be -1 to +1 degrees in Canberra. Canberra are a team who have been disappointing of late but appear poised to pull off a few big wins. We see Cowboys struggling to compete in the freezing conditions and Canberra finding some form.
Tip: Raiders -4 @1.91 - WilliamHill
This is the first time the Knights have been favourites since round 26, 2015. Coming into this match as underdogs shows just how bad the Tigers are going. The Tigers do however, get James Tedesco back. The Knights also have a big in, recalling Blues legend Trent Hodkinson from NSW Cup. Despite the Knights being favourites, at home and coming off a solid effort against the dragons, we think the Tigers show some value with the +1.5 handicap. And will also have a bet on Tigers 13+.
Tip: Tigers +1.5 @1.94 - Crownbet
Tigers 13+ @ 4.75 - Crownbet
Sam Burgess has this week talked up Souths’ chances of making a run at the 2017 finals. That run is going to have to start now. Panthers are attempting to make their own run, in 9th place, though 4 points off the 8. Souths have recalled 2014 Grand Final champion Dave Tyrrell in to their starting side. This will be Tyrrells’ 150th game. Though Tyrrell, along with the Burgess brothers, is better known these days for his butter fingers than premiership rings on his fingers. A tough match to pick.
